Beacons is the most design-aware US link-in-bio, backed by a16z with $60M Series A. Linkette is its European cousin — Mistral AI, Paris data, editorial typography.
Of all the comparisons in this series, this is the closest aesthetic match. Beacons is the US link-in-bio that takes design and AI seriously. Their team came out of Stanford, they have a16z behind them, and their AI Page Builder genuinely works. If you have looked at Beacons and liked what you saw — but blinked at hosting your audience's data in San Francisco — you are exactly the reader this article is for.

What Beacons actually is
Founded in 2017, Beacons raised a $6M seed from Andreessen Horowitz in May 2021 and then a $60M Series A in April 2022 at a roughly $300M valuation. The company is based in San Francisco. The product has steadily expanded from a link-in-bio into what they call a "creator business suite" — link page, media kit, email tool, digital store, AI brand-outreach features.
Current pricing on the Beacons pricing page: Free, Creator Pro at $10/mo, Store Pro at $30/mo, Business Pro at $90/mo. The free and Creator Pro tiers carry a 9% fee on commerce; Store Pro removes it.
Where Beacons is better — honestly
1. Commerce depth, right now. Digital products, courses, subscriptions, order bumps, funnels, affiliate marketplace, automations. This is shipped product, not roadmap. If your business model is "sell from my bio today," Beacons is more complete than Linkette will be until v2.1 (Mollie integration).
2. AI brand outreach. Beacons has a feature that auto-drafts pitch emails to brands using your media-kit data. It is real, it works, and it is not on the Linkette roadmap. If you make a meaningful share of your income from brand deals, this is a feature worth $10/mo on its own.
3. Media kit. Beacons auto-builds and updates a sharable media kit. Linkette has no equivalent in v1.
4. Email marketing built in. Beacons includes a 50-email/month allowance even on Free, with bigger limits on paid. Linkette uses Brevo under the hood for transactional email but does not ship a creator-facing email tool in v1.
5. Mobile apps with editor parity. iOS and Android. Linkette is web-first.
6. Scale. Beacons has been around longer, has venture funding, and supports more creators today.
Where Linkette wins — with numbers
1. The AI runs on a European model. Mistral La Plateforme, Paris. Every AI feature — onboarding chat, bio assistant, ghost-text completions, link enrichment — routes through Mistral and is recorded in a per-creator usage ledger (model, tokens, cost, trace ID). Beacons has not publicly committed to where its AI calls go; the consumer-facing AI features are consistent with OpenAI usage patterns common in 2024-era San Francisco AI tooling.
2. Data lives in France. Postgres on Supabase eu-west-3 (Paris). CDN through BunnyCDN (Slovenia, EU-owned). Email via Brevo (France). Analytics via Plausible (Estonia, cookie-free). Hosting on Scaleway (France). For an EU creator whose audience expects GDPR compliance to be load-bearing rather than performative, this matters.
3. Cookie-free public pages. Your Linkette page sets zero tracking cookies. Beacons pages, like most US-funded creator tools, run analytics and pixel scripts that drop cookies. Visit one in a fresh incognito session with a network inspector open — the contrast is immediate.
4. Editorial design that is not generic-SaaS-modern. Beacons looks polished in the way every well-funded San Francisco SaaS looks polished. Linkette is trying to look like a book. Fraunces variable serif, cream paper (#FAF6EE), terracotta accent, warm near-black dark mode. Whether that resonates is taste — but it is a real difference, not marketing copy.
5. Pricing predictability. One €5/mo tier in v1. No fee on tips when monetization ships in v2.1 (we take a small percentage to cover Mollie processing — to be published before launch). No "remove branding for $90/mo" upsell ladder.
6. AI Act lineage. Mistral is one of the named GPAI providers under the EU AI Act and publishes its compliance documentation. When an EU creator's accountant or DPO asks who provides the AI, we have a clean answer; US incumbents are still drafting theirs.
The honest convergence
Both ship beautiful link pages by default. Both take AI seriously as a UX surface, not a sparkle button. Both are trying to be "the link-in-bio for people who care." The Stanford-founded, a16z-backed, San Francisco version is Beacons. The Paris-residency, Mistral-powered, editorial-design version is Linkette.
The recommendation
If you make most of your income from brand deals, sell digital products from your bio today, want a built-in email tool, or need native mobile apps — pick Beacons. The product is more complete for full-time US-style creator-economy work, and the AI brand-outreach feature genuinely earns its price.
If you are a European creator, you have a meaningful audience outside the US, you care that your visitors are not pixel-tracked, your AI calls stay in Europe, and your page reads like a thoughtfully designed object rather than a polished landing page — pick Linkette. We will not pretend the feature breadth matches Beacons today. The bet is that for our reader, the trade is worth making.
